Introduction

ZATTI Counselling Centre is the professional counselling wing of Don Bosco College, Yelagiri Hills. Established with a strong commitment to student wellbeing, the Centre aims to enhance holistic mental health and wellness among students and staff. Recognizing that college students experience diverse academic, emotional, social, and personal challenges, the Centre offers continuous psychological support to help them maintain mental balance and achieve overall wellbeing.

The Centre follows a wellness-oriented approach, respecting the uniqueness of each individual and empowering them to achieve personal and academic growth.

Staffing and Supervision

ZATTI Counselling Centre is led by a team of qualified and experienced professional counsellors who are committed to promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing on campus.

The Centre is managed by Mrs. Maria Nirmala and Mr. Leo Maria Francis, who bring professional expertise and a student-centred approach to counselling and wellness services.

The Centre functions with the guidance and support of the College Management and Administration, ensuring that counselling services are delivered ethically, responsibly, and in alignment with institutional values. While working collaboratively with faculty members and academic leaders when necessary, the Counselling Centre strictly upholds confidentiality and professional standards in all its practices.

Facilities

The Counselling Centre provides a safe, private, and confidential environment conducive to healing and personal growth. Facilities are designed to ensure:

  • One-to-one confidential counselling sessions
  • A supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere
  • Structured spaces for individual counselling and group programmes
  • Access to referrals for psychiatric and medical support when necessary

Services Offered

  • Individual Psychotherapeutic Counselling for emotional, academic, behavioural, and psychological concerns
  • Life Skills Development Programmes for UG and PG students
  • Screening and Early Intervention for psychological disturbances
  • Referral Services for psychiatric or medical intervention in consultation with the Principal
  • Internship Programmes in counselling practices for postgraduate students from neighbouring colleges

Counsellors are available for individual counselling from 9.30 a.m. to 1.15 p.m., Monday to Thursday, on working days.

Activities and Initiatives

Regular Life Skills Development Programmes, with a minimum of two programmes per semester for each class.

Programmes conducted include:

  • Self-Esteem and Goal Setting
  • Professional Communication and Public Speaking
  • Career Planning and Employability Skills
  • Awareness on Substance Abuse and Mobile Addiction
  • Annual Internship Programme for PG students of Counselling Psychology, including screening, minor counselling interventions, reporting, and evaluation
  • Awareness sessions and special programmes based on emerging student needs
  • Collaboration with academic departments for student development initiatives
